Our Commitment to Volunteers

At Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) Ireland, we believe volunteers are at the heart of our mission to provide remembrance photography to bereaved families. This Volunteer Charter outlines what volunteers can expect from NILMDTS Ireland, and in turn, what we ask from our volunteers.

As a Volunteer, You Can Expect:

    To receive appropriate induction, training, and ongoing support for your role.

    To receive clear information about your role, responsibilities, and who to contact for guidance.

    To have your contributions acknowledged and celebrated.

  • Flexible Volunteering Opportunities
    To be given the opportunity to volunteer in a flexible manner that aligns with your personal and professional commitments.

  • Reimbursement of Expenses
    To be reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred in the course of your volunteering, in line with our policy.

  • Access to Counselling Support
    To be offered access to professional counselling support if needed, recognising the emotionally sensitive nature of our work.

  • Confidentiality
    To have your personal information handled with care and confidentiality.

  • Equal Opportunities
    To volunteer without discrimination, regardless of background, race, gender, age, ability, or beliefs.

As a Volunteer, We Ask You To:

  • Act with Compassion and Professionalism
    Approach your role with sensitivity, respect, and professionalism, especially when supporting bereaved families.

  • Respect Confidentiality
    Maintain strict confidentiality around all personal and sensitive information you encounter.

  • Be Reliable
    Honour your commitments and inform us promptly if you’re unable to fulfil your duties.

  • Follow Guidance
    Adhere to NILMDTS policies, procedures, and the training provided.

  • Work Collaboratively
    Treat fellow volunteers, families, and partners with kindness and mutual respect.

  • Promote Our Values
    Represent NILMDTS Ireland positively and uphold our mission to support grieving families.
