Selection Criteria

NILMDTS Ireland is part of an international movement that honours babies who are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Through our support, we offer parents the gift of professionally edited images that help to reflect the sense of love rather than focus on the loss of their child.

Our team includes both professional and highly skilled amateur photographers.

The Training

The NILMDTS Ireland Training Programme is designed to ensure all photographers are fully prepared to provide high-quality, compassionate remembrance photography. This programme covers:

  • Preparing for a session: Learn how to approach families and create a calm, respectful environment.

  • Retouching guidelines: Understand the necessary standards for editing and retouching the images.

  • Preparing and delivering the images: Gain insight into how to present the final images to the family.

  • Final Assessment: At the end of the training, you will complete a final assessment to ensure that you are ready to start volunteering as an active photographer.

  • Ongoing Support: You’ll also be paired with an experienced mentor for hands-on guidance and support.

We are here for you and with you, every step of the way.

What you need.

A caring, empathetic nature and the desire to use your photography skills in the most meaningful way imaginable.

Strong photography skills including confidence in working in challenging lighting conditions

There is no minimum time commitment for this role- you would be placed on the contact list for your area and then contacted when a session is required. We understand that you will not always be available.

We are also very open to photographers with less or no photoshop skills as we have a digital retouch team who can support this element
