Volunteer Spotlight- René Botha
NILMDTS Ireland simply would not exist without the dedication, time and compassion of our wonderful (and growing!) team of volunteers.
We are honoured to share some of their stories and journeys with you in this Volunteer Spotlight series of posts.
Today’s spotlight is shining on one of our wonderful dispatch team, René Botha.
René joined the NILMDTS Ireland team in 2024 and brings with her a wealth of skills, dedication, empathy and commitment.
Her role within NILMDTS Ireland centres within the dispatch team, answering calls from hospital representatives and families who are in need of our services. She then gathers the required information and seeks to match the session with one of our available volunteer photographers. Like all of our wonderful dispatch team, René is a real team player, always on hand to step in for coverage and support.
She is a proud South African, having arrived in Ireland 20 months ago.

René discovered the work of NILMDTS Ireland when looking for a volunteering opportunity that resonated with her. She felt an affinity with the cause of NILMDTS Ireland and was inspired by the dedication, empathy and compassion of all the team, particularly with Jim and Bláth who she first made contact with.
We are so grateful that René found us, connected with our mission, and has joined our wonderful growing team.
She embodies the spirit of NILMDTS Ireland, of care, compassion, empathy and teamwork.
Thank you René for all you do for our charity and for the families we support. If you would like to hear more about volunteer roles available with NILMDTS Ireland click here
